APL FCU Helping Out in the Community

At APL FCU, we feel it is important to do our part to help our community during these difficult times. In addition to the financial help we are offering members through loan relief and other assistance, we have donated more than $20,000, on behalf of our members, to local organizations assisting those in need.

This includes the Howard County General Hospital’s Care for our Caregivers Fund, Elizabeth House and the Community Action Council (which runs the Howard County Food Bank while also providing housing and utility payment assistance to low-income residents).

We’ve also encouraged our staff to support local restaurants and businesses whenever possible, as we know how much these establishments are being affected by this pandemic.

Ways to Donate

Because of our postponed food drive, we have had numerous members ask how they can support Elizabeth House (FISH of Laurel, Inc.). For those of you in a position to help, donations can be made directly on their website at:
www.fishoflaurel.org

In addition to Elizabeth House, there are more than a dozen sites around the county, including the Community Action Council, that are collecting food donations and other needed items. The official Howard County Government website has a list of collection locations and hours. Just click on the “needs” button for each location to see a list of items they are requesting:

Difficult times often bring out the best in people. It’s wonderful to hear from so many members looking to assist others in need, and makes us proud to be part of this great community.
