Update: McGaw Branch Closure

A photo of APL FCU's McGaw Branch

We wanted to share an update on the status of our McGaw Branch’s temporary closure following the recent flooding that occurred on July 17, 2025. The water remediation process is now complete, and we are moving into the rebuilding phase.

While we do not have a definitive reopening date, we anticipate the branch will remain closed for at least the next 2-3 months as we work to return to full service.

In the meantime, you can continue to take advantage of our digital services such as Online and Mobile Banking (including features such as Zelle®, mobile deposit, and external transfers). Our Main Office Branch (11050 Johns Hopkins Rd, Laurel, MD 20723) is open for regular business hours. Our McGaw Branch staff are working alongside staff at our other branches to assist members.

We want to thank you again for your patience and understanding as we work through this unexpected situation. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available. We look forward to welcoming you back to McGaw as soon as it is safe to reopen.

Tips for Using Peer-to-Peer Payment Apps

Whether you’re splitting the bill at a restaurant with friends, paying back your parents, or buying snacks at a sports event, it’s hard to beat the convenience of peer-to-peer payment apps like Venmo, Zelle, Google Pay, Cash App, and PayPal.

With these apps, you don’t have to worry about finding an ATM or carrying a wad of cash at all times. Instead, P2P apps are typically linked to your bank account and let you send or receive money instantly.

Win-win, right? Well, yes and no. There is no denying the speed and convenience of P2P apps. But they aren’t risk-free, so make sure you’re aware of potential pitfalls before you hit Send.
