Greenlight for Kids

Your subscription includes debit cards for up to 5 kids, spending notifications, chores, automated allowance, the financial literacy game Level Up, and more.

As an APL Federal Credit Union (APL FCU) member, your Greenlight subscription is free*.

If you’re an APL Federal Credit Union member, you can enroll in your free* Greenlight subscription directly through the APL FCU mobile app. Existing Greenlight customers can also switch their current account to a free* subscription within APL FCU mobile app.

Once you register, you can view your Greenlight account(s) in the APL FCU Mobile App. You’ll be able to view balances, send money quickly, view recent transactions, and check off chores. Some account management features — such as settings spending limits and adding new chores — require the dedicated Greenlight app.

Greenlight is designed for mobile, so you’ll need to use the APL FCU Mobile App on your phone to sign up rather than a desktop or laptop.

Kids and parents log in to the same Greenlight app but have two different experiences. Parents can send money, set flexible controls, and more. Kids learn how to manage their own money while staying safe and connected to the family.

Greenlight supports kids and adults of all ages. No minimum (or maximum) age here.

Greenlight Card Accounts are issued by Community Federal Savings Bank; member FDIC and the funds are FDIC-insured up to the applicable limits. Greenlight Card Accounts also come with fraud protection through Mastercard’s Zero Liability Protection Policy.

Greenlight also blocks unsafe spending categories, sends real-time transaction notifications, lets parents turn cards off at any time, and gives parents flexible ATM and spend controls.

Kids can request and receive money instantly from you right in their app. They can also use their pay link to receive money from friends and family — with your approval on every payment. First job? Set up direct deposit to get paid into their Greenlight account.

Yes! As soon as your child’s card has been activated, they can add their Greenlight card details to Apple Pay or Google Pay to tap and pay in an instant.
